Aim of the program
It is aimed at students who have completed their basic music studies in Guitar and wish to engage professionally in musical interpretation and to accompany orchestral ensembles, chamber music ensembles as professional performers, to pursue a career as a soloist, to teach as teachers - professors in school and conservatory education, to work in cultural organizations, in artistic institutions and organizations, in event organization offices, in music publishing houses, in concert halls, in musical theaters.
The knowledge provided to the student concerns his evolution and development as an artist and as an individual, cultivating the skills and characteristics that are necessary for the modern professional reality.
The main body of the repertoire taught is of a general orientation and includes works from the Baroque and Classical periods, the 19th century and contemporary music (20th century). These special courses are of high demands in terms of skill as well as musical culture and sensitivity. They are accompanied by general courses that aim to complete musical knowledge.
Duration of the program
The minimum duration of study, at the higher level, for obtaining the Guitar degree is three academic years and for the diploma four academic years after completing basic music studies.
For holders of a Guitar degree, the minimum duration of study for obtaining the diploma is two academic years.
During each year, the student is taught the predetermined material and at the end of the year participates in the corresponding exams and, additionally, in an evaluation in the form of an open concert.
Registration requirements
The student enrolls in the 1st year of the advanced level, having completed his basic music studies, after successfully participating in the corresponding exams. A student who has the required knowledge, after successfully participating in the qualifying exams, can enroll in the 1st or 2nd year of the advanced level.
Teaching
At the Hellenic Conservatory, guitar education is personalized and the student has the opportunity to choose his teacher. The full academic year, from September to June, includes 34 weekly individual lessons of 80 minutes.
In addition, the student broadens the scope of his practical musical education by attending a series of general courses.
General Courses
The student, having completed the general course program of basic music studies, is required to attend the following general courses, which must be completed at least six months before participating in the final exams:
Didactics I
History of Music I, II
Morphology I
Chamber Music I, II
the full year includes 22 weekly lessons, lasting 45 minutes for each of the above
Duration of the basic studies program
Basic Music Studies includes the following levels in order with a minimum duration of study:
Juniors (optional) 1 year
Preliminary 2 years
Lower 3 years
Intermediate 3 years
At each level, the student is taught the predetermined material and at the end of the year participates in the corresponding exams.
Registration requirements
The student is enrolled in the 1st year of the preliminary level after an advisory audition. A prospective student who has the required knowledge can enroll in any year of any level of basic music studies, only after successfully participating in qualifying exams.
Teaching
At the Hellenic Conservatory, Guitar education is individualized. The full year, from September to June, includes 32 weekly lessons of duration:
junior level 30 minutes
preliminary level 40 minutes
lower level 50 minutes
intermediate level 60 minutes
In addition, the student at the lower and intermediate levels broadens the scope of his practical musical education by attending general lessons.
